96.7kram was the dream of two middle school students in Montevideo. Minnesota. Starting out in the summer of 1997 with a CB radio in their barn studio, the duo began broadcasting. Over the next few months, KRAM evolved into a super-low power hobby station changing frequencies and locations. Over the next few years the duo broadcasted various events from around town and entertained the neighborhood with their music selection. In 2003 the two received an official LPFM construction permit from the FCC. They built the transmitter site and studio and signed on the air for the first time on July 30th, 2004.
Today 96.7kram is on the air 24/7 with 100 watts of clear FM Stereo power, originating from a studio in downtown Montevideo and transmitted from a tower site northwest of Montevideo. The station also streams online thru tunein radio. 96.7kram really is a unique station, from its founding to its music selection.
